In recent years, much effort has been devoted to develop environment responsible and resource efficient technologies. A considerable amount of research is now directed towards the developement of systems which reduce the overall impact of human activity on environment and health. Currently, the Energy Efficiency team at ECLT is actively researching in the important area of energy saving and sustainable building design. Sustainable building design works throughout a building's life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, and maintenance. This practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort. ECLT is establishing new frontiers for the optimal design of energy-efficient buildings by means of the collaboration between statisticians and building engineers.
The aim is to identify solutions allowing carbon neutral buildings to be comfortable and healthy for their occupants while, at the same time, respecting the aspirations of the architects.
