Short Bio
Davide Ferrari is Assistant Professor (Ricercatore) at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, where he teaches Statistics at both the graduate and undergraduate level. He graduated from the University of
Minnesota in 2008, where he earned his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Statistics. He taught several classes in applied and theoretical Statistics at the University of Minnesota both as a primary instructor and teaching assistant. Previously, he obtained a Laurea (masters-level degree) in Economics from the University of Modena, Italy. Currently, he is member of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) and Center for Economic Research (ReCent), University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His research focuses on statistical procedures based on information measures for estimation and prediction in high dimensions, robust estimation, model selection and rare event estimation. Recently, he has taken an interest in combinatorial optimization and evolutionary experimental design. His applied work is primarily in bio-medical sciences, economics and finance.
