CURRICULUM VITAE
Research Area
I focus on developing innovative and competitive search methodologies and intelligent decision support systems with an emphasis on transdisciplinary optimisation, modelling of complex systems and very-large datasets processing. I have applied my expertise to Bioinformatics, Systems Biology, Synthetic Biology, Nanoscience and Chemistry.
Focus Area
intelligent search methodologies in Bioinformatics, Systems and Synthetic Biology
Short Bio
Krasnogor has an extensive and successful track record of interdisciplinary research. He leads the Interdisciplinary Optimisation Laboratory (IOL) at the School of Computer Science. The IOL mission is the development of cutting-edge decision support, optimisation and search methodologies for problems arising from the natural sciences. His team consisting of 10 doctoral students and 4 postodoctoral researchers working at the interface of Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Krasnogor
has published in top journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Nano Letters, Bioinformatics, BMC Bioinformatics, and he has received numerous prizes for his papers. Krasnogors transdiciplinary experience resulted in grants participation totalling in
the order of 14 million from EPSRC, BBSRC and the EU. Krasnogor attracted approximatedly 1M as Principal Investigator and 13M as a co-investigator with colleagues from other disciplines. Krasnogor became the Principal Investigator leading SynBioNT: A Synthetic Biology Network for Modelling and Programming Cell-Chell Interactions, one of only 7 recent BBSRC/EPSRC networks in Synthetic Biology. SynBioNT groups together UK and international leaders in Synthetic Biology. He established the European Conference on Synthetic Biology (ECCB) with funds from the ESF. Krasnogor is Technical Editor-in-Chief in the Journal "Memetic Computing", Associate Editor for the Evolutionary Computation" journal and editor for both the "Modelling and Simulation in Engineering" and "Artificial Evolution and Applications" journals.
